From the rooftop. From the job site.
Crane sizing.
Right in your pocket.
A quick starting point for HVAC contractors planning rooftop unit lifts. Enter weight and reach—no booking flow, no sales form.
Plan the reach over the wall
Find the site and mark the crane setup, first wall, and rooftop unit. The map automatically calculates crane-to-wall, wall-to-unit, total radius, and the horizontal minimum boom reach; enter heights to refine the required boom length for wall clearance.
Your current address fills automatically with location permission. Confirm it is the job site, or choose an address suggestion. Changing sites clears the measurements.
Drag the crane silhouette so the white pivot dot sits on the crane’s center of rotation—not the edge of the truck—then release to set.
A floating silhouette follows your cursor or finger while placing—press, drag into position, and release to set. Drag a placed pin to refine. Solid = crane to unit. Dashed = crane to wall. Distances and minimum horizontal reach calculate automatically after all three points are placed. Satellite distances are estimates and must be verified on site.
Heights & clearance
Feet throughout. All elevations must use the same datum: ground level at the crane. Account for any ground-level difference. Heights cannot be read from satellite imagery.
Include the highest obstruction at the wall crossing.
Elevation of the surface supporting the unit.
Pre-filled at 10 ft as a typical truck-crane pivot height. Obtain the boom heel-pin height for the proposed crane.
Pre-filled at 15 ft minimum overhead clearance (unit height + rigging + hook/block); do not reduce below 15 ft without provider confirmation.
Pre-filled at 2 ft minimum boom-to-wall clearance (boom depth, deflection); confirm with your provider.
Preliminary geometry
Minimum boom length
Place the crane, first wall, and rooftop unit to measure the setup.
This checks only the selected wall and final unit position—not other obstacles or the load’s travel path. Real heel offsets, boom depth/deflection, head geometry, terrain, and lifting capacity require a qualified crane provider’s review. The separate weight/radius recommendation does not validate this boom length; check the exact manufacturer configuration before lifting.
Additional site tools use a separate map; their image downloads do not include the boom calculation. Footprints are illustrative, and satellite imagery is not a site survey. Refreshing clears this session.
Size your HVAC lift
Use the actual lifted weight from the manufacturer, including attached accessories. HVAC cooling tons are not lifting weight.
Horizontal distance from the crane’s center of rotation to the load’s center of gravity. Use the largest radius across pickup, swing, and placement—not the distance from the truck’s edge.
Sizing updates automatically as you type. No account, contact details, or quote request.
Preliminary sizing · not lift approval
Know where to start.
Enter your unit’s weight and maximum lift radius to find a reference crane size to discuss with your crane provider.
This capacity check does not validate boom geometry.
The boom planner estimates geometry separately; this weight/radius match does not check capacity at that boom length. Lifting accessories, counterweight, outrigger setup, ground bearing, wind, and power lines can require a different crane. Have a qualified crane provider verify the exact manufacturer load chart and site-specific lift plan before booking or lifting.
